Mississippi County Outlaws Clowns Until After Halloween

Dressing as a clown is now illegal in Kemper County, Mississippi, at least until after Halloween. Reacting with extreme zeal to America’s creepy clown epidemic, the Kemper County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an ordinance earlier this week that makes it unlawful for any person of any age to appear in public in Kemper County in a clown costume, clown mask or clown makeup, reports The Kemper County Messenger. Violating the ordinance, which expires the day after Halloween, is punishable by a $150 fine. “It has really gotten out of hand,” Board President Johnny Whitsett said of the nation’s clown plague.
