Tupac Shakur, Pearl Jam lead rock hall of fame ballot

Rapper Tupac Shakur and grunge band Pearl Jam are among the first-time nominees on the ballot for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame come 2017. The Associated Press reports that nine of this year’s 19 nominated acts are first-timers on the ballot. More than 800 artists, music-industry officials and music historians vote on the nominees, with inductees to be revealed in December before being officially inducted in April. Other first-time nominees include Journey, Bad Brains, Jane’s Addiction, Depeche Mode, Joan Baez, and Steppenwolf; returning nominees include Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan and J. Geils Band.
